One visa covers:

  • Pre-sessional English course at the Leeds English Language School
  • A levels at Giggleswick School (2 years)

Acceptance for A levels after the pre-sessional English course is unconditional. No need to re-take IELTS. No need to extend the visa.

Acceptance at any university in the UK (including Oxford and Cambridge) is possible after A levels. This is dependent on A level grades achieved.

All international students in the school are required to have guardians who will act in loco parentis. Guardianship can be arranged by Leeds English Language School.

Clubs, societies, activities

Sports

  • Rugby, Girls’ Hockey and Cross Country in the Michaelmas Term
  • Rugby Sevens, Boys’ Hockey, Netball, Football (seniors only) and Cross Country in the Easter Term
  • Cricket, Tennis and Athletics in the Summer Term
  • Other sports offered are Badminton, Basketball, Fives, Golf, Swimming, Squash, Girls' Rugby, Rounders and Girls' Cricket

Sports Clubs are also offered to give pupils of all ages access to new sports. Current clubs include Dance, Basketball, Swimming, Lifesaving, Fives, Indoor Cricket nets, Table Tennis, Mixed Hockey, Badminton, Squash and Speed training.

There are excellent sports facilities which include a floodlit all-weather pitch for hockey and football, six hard and four grass tennis courts, several rugby and football pitches, fives and squash courts, cricket squares and our spectacularly located 1st XI cricket pitch.

There is a new £1.5 million sports hall which caters for various indoor sports, including cricket (4 nets), badminton, basketball, indoor tennis and football, a dance area, an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.

There is a full fixture list for all major sports, regular sports tours. Each year a number of pupils are selected to represent the district and county in a variety of sports. Pupils are also encouraged to follow courses in coaching, umpiring/refereeing and related sports awards

Clubs, societies and activities

There is a huge variety of outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, caving etc.., the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and a range of music and drama activities such as the Concert Band, school orchestra, choir and rock bands, as well as the chance to perform in school plays and productions – not just in acting, singing or dancing, but also in directing, devising, make-up, set and costume design and stage management.

Entry Requirements

For the pre-sessional English course:

  • Level B1 in English (equivalent to IELTS 4.0)

For Giggleswick School:

  • Completion of the LELS Pre-sessional English course
  • Good examination results from high school
  • Successful completion of the Assessment Tests for International Students
  • Successful completion of the English pre-sessional course at the Leeds English Language School.
  • No need to re-take IELTS
  • No need to extend the visa. One visa will cover the pre-sessional English course and the two year A level course.
